Description: Presents the importance of trees to humans and to animals. Shows Wally, a boy in elementary school, walking through the woods with his father, who shows and explains the importance of trees. Tells of their use for lumber, food, paper, rubber, sap, and other uses. Illustrates how Indians used black walnut bark for dye and the birch tree for making canoes. Pictures a bird's nest in an oak tree and a squirrel gathering acorns. Points out that even the fallen oak has uses as baby rabbits are pictured in a nest underneath it. Concludes with school children planting a tree, and explains that they now realize that everyone should take care of trees.
