Description: "Hot Dog" was a fast-paced, educational Saturday morning children's television series that aired on NBC from September 12, 1970, to September 4, 1971. This reel starts with a fragment of an episode about why onions cause you to cry, and then has a complete episode showing spaghetti and pasta manufacturing at the Cafferata Ravioli Factory in San Francisco, California (now defunct). Created by Frank Buxton and co-produced by Peanuts animator Lee Mendelson, "Hot Dog" was affectionately known as a "program about stuff". The concept was inspired by Buxton's travels visiting various factories and was designed to answer kids' questions about the mechanics behind everyday objects. The show used a creative mix of upbeat cinematography, live-action factory tours, and a groovy soundtrack provided by the American rock band The Youngbloods.
