Description: Seventeen-year-old Katty Sergeant, a girl from an Australian sheep and horse-breeding farm, dreams of becoming a professional harness racer. Her hopes center on her favorite horse, Alchemy, a gifted pacer who faces retirement due to a serious leg injury. After convincing her grandmother, the horse’s owner, to let her take over his care, Katty enlists the help of an experienced neighbor and trainer to rehabilitate him. Through unconventional methods like swimming in the ocean and rigorous training, they work to strengthen Alchemy’s leg and prepare him for his racing debut. Despite initial setbacks and her own nerves, Katty and Alchemy overcome the odds, culminating in a triumphant performance at Gloucester Park where they secure a victory in her very first race.
