Description: Description: In a Jewish neighborhood in the Bronx, a filmmaker captures an American Legion parade and a ceremonial ribbon-cutting around the opening of a new branch of the U.S. Post Office in University Heights. Before these events are shipping sequences with atmospheric photography of the port of New York. Following these sequences is shown a parade in support of the establishment of the Jewish state of Israel following the Holocaust. With signs and banners encouraging Jewish New Yorkers to donate to Histadrut, the national labor federation of Israel and a major player in the Labor Zionist movement. These sequences are contextualized within the timeline of the geopolitical events of the late 1940s, in which conflict between Arab people and Jewish settlers in Palestine led to the 1948 Palestine war.
