Description: Titles are: 1. PASSOVER. Commemorates the exodus of the children of Israel from Egypt. Shows the "Omer" ceremony of cutting the first sheaf of grain; a traditional Seder celebrated by a family in Tel Aviv; the celebration of a Seder night in a kibbutz; the Passover pilgrimage to Mt. Zion in Jerusalem; the ascent to Masada near the Dead Sea, that last stronghold of the Jews which fell on Passover 1900 years ago. Underlines the narration of the story of the exodus by scenes from the Red Sea and the Negev desert. 2. SHAVUOTH. Commemorates the giving of the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai and is the festival of the first fruits and the grain harvest. Shows the celebration of the Ten Commandments in synagogues decorated with flowers and branches. The richly decked scrolls are lifted from the Ark and carried among the people. Illustrates readings from the Bible by scenes of the land and the work in agriculture. Shows the shearing of the sheep, an event celebrated at the time of Shavuoth and is climaxed by the dance of the shepherds. 3. PURIM. The Feast of Esther commemorates the thwarting of a plan to destroy the Jews thousands of years ago. Shows that Purim is carnival time in Israel. Floats and processions wend their way through the streets of Tel Aviv. Masqueraders dance to commemorate the fall of Haman. Children in school stage a play acting out in pantomime the story of Purim.
