Great Western Savings 1961 TV Ad "The Great Way to Save" | 16mm Film Scan

Description: TV spot for Great Western Savings ca. 1961 "The Great Way to Save" ten-gallon hat commercial. Features a man working in various scenarios, while the narrator convinces him that Great Western is the best way since they offer 4 3/4 percent. Film date code is 1961. I was unable to find any solid background on this commercial, however there are references to the Great Way to Save slogan in some 1960s newspapers. Film was also on the same reel as the 'Film Fair' animated ads, and from Television Age scans a couple years later it does mention them having produced one for Great Western; however that may only be a coincidence. Written on the end of the film was "GREAT-WESTERN SAVINGS 1/4 LESS GW-23-60" Corrected film exposure, contrast and light bleed.
