Story of the settlement of Watauga in the mountains of Tennessee, in 1780. Practically all of Watauga's fighting men had ridden with Col. John Sevier against Major Patrick Ferguson, Tory terrorizer of the frontier. With every trader bringing fearful tales of Indian outrages the few courageous souls carried on alone and refused to recall their warriors, who fought and won the battle of King's Mountain against Cornwallis, that was a prelude to the defeat of Cornwallis
