Description: This is a brief story of some of the things the Western World owes to Chinese culture and ingenuity. Two small boys, one Chinese, the other American, intrigued by a book entitled CHINA'S GIFT TO THE WEST, explore the American boy's home to discover for themselves just what China's gifts have been. Among them they find paper, tea, porcelain, silk, fruits, flowers and household pets. As each article is considered, the film travels farther afield showing to what highly developed uses it has been adapted by the necessities of Western civilization. A number of museum pieces are displayed, as well as the more utilitarian objects and the picture closes with some colored sequences of especially fine specimens of China's gifts.
