In an effort to get their own taxi medallion, they have entrusted their savings, $4,000, to a man named Chan Hung, a wheeler-dealer from Taiwan, who has apparently absconded with the money. They search for Chan throughout the Chinatown of San Francisco. The more they find out about him, the less they know. There are reports that Chan has either returned to Taiwan to settle an estate or has important ties to Communist China. He seems to have played some part in a scuffle between marchers sympathetic to Taipei and those sympathetic to Beijing during a New Year's parade. There are suggestions that he is connected with an argument between two elderly Chinese men in which one shot the other.; PFA 1620-01-9755.
