Birds of the Dakota Prairie

Silent (soundtrack added) 400ft home movie circa 1939/1940 from what we believe is Slade National Wildlife Refuge in North Dakota; focusing on the "prairie pothole" wetlands. Filmed by Charles Peet (1903-1945) who had married Georgiana Mary Slade, the daughter of George T Slade. When he died in 1941, he had willed his 3000 acre hunting club to the US Fish & Wildlife service; where it became a national wildlife refuge.

Film contains footage of a variety of species, from American white pelicans to sandpipers to willets. Quite a few of the shots are 'slow-motion' based on the standard home movie silent speed of 16 fps, appears to be at least three different framerates in this film. I am unsure of the camera model used, but it was very likely a multi-lens turret.
