Description: Produced in collaboration with Michael Ference, Jr. and George Benton, the University of Chicago. The first part of the film gives a detailed presentation of the atmosphere and its chemical composition; the gaseous nature; the distribution of the air, weight of air, altitude and pressure and temperature. The second sequence shows the circulation of air as it would appear over an idealized globe without mountains or oceans. Air circulates in patterns showing the pressure bands surrounding the earth.
