Perkins, Balanus, Caprella, Crago, Hippolyte, Homarus, and Pagurus serve to illustrate various groups of crustaceans found along the rocky coast of Maine. The common barnacle shows its protective blending of form and color with the background; the prawns and the lobster reveal decapod structure and activity and the amusing hermit crabs quickly enter new shells when deprived of their moveable homes. Excellent color, various magnifications, and camera angles make this an important film in the teaching of marine invertebrate zoology.
