ARIZONA—ITS MINERAL RESOURCES AND SCENIC WONDERS

Produced by Phelps Dodge corporation. This is partly a travelogue starting with a general view of typical Arizona cactus land. The commentator then speaks of Arizona's hidden wealth and of its livestock ranges. A map gives some idea of the state's topography, and points out the principal mining districts. Remains of an Indian pueblo village are shown. Men are seen panning gold in a stream. Indian mining is spoken of and the importance to the development of Arizona played by early pioneer settlers. We visit the Mission of San Xavier del Bac, the desert home of the Sahuaros. Then the film goes into color showing the historic gold mines in the region with many natural monuments including Saguaro, Montezuma Castle and Organ Pipe National monuments.
