Description: Home movie film dating to 1924 (based on film edge code) making it an extremely rare home movie, as 16mm cameras and film weren't available outside of test markets until the same year. Filmed by Harry Hopkins. Covers a road trip through Southern California, starting in an unknown location but passing by the Savage Dam near San Diego, through the imperial valley onto El Centro, and finally arriving in Riverside. There's some notable shots of El Centro's Barbara Worth Hotel, and then a lot of nice shots from the famous Mission Inn, in Riverside. Confused me for a bit trying to figure it out since they re-constructed the bell tower in 1944. What looks like rocks out in the field rows are likely wax paper covers protecting cantaloupe seedlings, there are postcards online showing them. *Please contact regarding usage* Being 1924 film & camera (and operator!), I had to do quite a lot of corrections, applying a whole lot of adjustments mostly on a scene-by-scene basis, from exposure/contrast correction to flicker reduction. Film would've been near unwatchable otherwise.
