Dieser wurde vom Meer angespült und schwimmt nun hilflos in einer Pfütze. Die Kinder versuchen den Fisch zu jagen und mit Stöcken und Steinen totzuschlagen. Eine Welle rettet ihn zunächst und schwemmt ihn ins Meer zurück, allerdings nur um ihn kurz darauf wieder an den Strand zu schwemmen. Die Jungen stehen lauernd um das im Todeskampf befindliche Tier. Einer der Kinder ergreift ihn dann, läuft fort und wirft ihn von einem ins Meer ragenden Felsen ins Wasser zurück. Awarded the rating 'particularly valuable' and the cultural film prize of the Federal Ministry of the Interior in 1962, the film depicts how playing boys discover a silverfish on the sandy coast of Estoril in Portugal. It has been washed up by the sea and is now swimming helplessly in a puddle. The children try to chase the fish and beat it to death with sticks and stones. A wave saves it at first and washes it back into the sea, but only to wash it back onto the beach shortly afterwards. The boys stand lurking around the animal, which is in its death throes.
