One Kitten for Kim

[Music] [Applause] [Music] kim had a cat named geraldine and seven kittens one kitten was striped like a tiny tiger three were round and soft and white as a snowball [Music] two were black as a midnight sky with ears and paws like little white stars and one with shiny silver grey all over kim thought that having seven kittens was fun king's mother and father did not agree king's father said there were too many cats in the house kim could keep geraldine and one kitten he would have to give the others away kim's mother agreed two pets were enough in one house [Music] kim chose the roundest and rowliest white kitten for his own [Music] he put the others in his mother's laundry basket [Music] so [Applause] [Music] so [Music] he set the basket in his wagon and away he went down the street with six kings in his basket [Music] mrs mcginty who lived close by was sweeping her sidewalk she was interested in what kim had in his basket kim told her they were kittens he asked her she liked one for a pet mrs mcginty was rather lonely a kitten would keep her company she picked up a snow white kitten and stroke its silky fur she had two goldfish but goldfish weren't very good company a kitten would curl up in her lap and perv goldfish did not do that but a kitten would grow up to be a cat a cat would eat goldfish mrs mcginty asked him what she would do with her goldfish kim told her that she could give the goldfish to him [Music] inside their bowl the two golden orange fish were swimming they had shiny fins they had tails like little waving fans their mouths were like tiny round o's mrs mcginty hurry into the house and came out carrying a round glass ball she set the glass ball in kim's wagon [Music] kim thanked mrs mcginty and away he went down the street with five kittens in his basket and two goldfish in a round glass bowl [Music] [Applause] [Music] kim pulled his wagon slowly because the water in the goldfish bowl went slosh splash he pulled his wagon quietly because he was coming to miss murphy's house miss murphy did not like noise she did not like wrapping wagons or squeaky wheels or noisy children miss murphy sat on her front porch quietly rocking kim said hello politely he told miss murphy he had some kittens to give away kim noted that they were nice quiet kittens miss murphy asked kim if she could see the quiet kittens she peered into the basket the kittens were curled into softballs they were making quiet pulling sounds this really asked him to wait for him [Music] [Music] kim waited while miss murphy hurried into the house [Applause] she came out carrying a golden cage inside it said a large green parrot walking and squawking noisily his name was skipper miss murphy's brother who was a sea captain had brought him from far across the sea he shattered any whistle and he sang the savers one bite miss murphy simply couldn't stand noisy pets she asked him if he would create one of his nice quiet kittens for a nice noisy party miss murphy set the cage with the awking squawking parrot carefully in the wagon and took the kitten the shiny silver gray all over [Music] [Applause] kim was delighted he thanked miss mercury then away he went down the street with four kittens in his basket two goldfish in a round glass bowl and one green parrot in a golden cage [Music] kim turned the corner where mr wiggins had his grocery store mr williams was making bright pyramids of fresh juicy peaches on his fruit sand he looked a little bit cross kim stopped and asked mr reagan's what was the matter it was the pesky mice they kept nibbling mr williams fruits and cheeses kim told mr wiggins that what he needed was a cat he offered mr wiggins a kitten it would grow up to be a cat and the cat would chase away the mice mr williams smiled and said he could use two kittens mr wiggins chose the two kittens black as a midnight sky with ears and paws like little white stars then he told kim he had something to show him in back of the store there was a box with four wiggly puppies inside mr wiggins asked kim if he would like to have one he chose the puppy with the silkiest fur the floppiest ears in the grooviest tail he put the puppy in a small box [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] mr wiggins set the box in king's wagon and away kim went down the street with two kittens in his basket two goldfish in a round glass bowl one green parrot in the golden cage and a weekly puppy in a small box [Music] [Applause] [Music] along the way kim saw mr green working on his chicken yard kim stopped tell mr green how nice his chickens were mr green stopped hammering and looked around he agreed that the hens were nice they gave fresh eggs every day but he said he was going to get rid of that pesky rooster every morning very early he would crawl wake up mr green he said he thought they put him in the soup pot kim didn't want that to happen to the rooster he told mr green he would take the rooster and give mr green a kitten mr green thought that was a fine idea his little girl's birthday was the next day mr green was sure she loved the snow white kitten for her birthday present [Music] mr green chased the shiny red rooster around the chicken yard until he got [Music] [Music] he put the rooster in a small crate [Music] him thank mr green set the crate in his wife [Music] [Applause] [Music] away king went down the street with one kitten in his basket two goldfish in a round glass bowl one green card in the golden cage a wiggly puppy in a small box and a shiny red rooster in a small creek [Music] as he was going down the street kim was thinking now i have just one kitten left to give away [Music] then he saw nelson may and her mother nelson was crying looking very unhappy mrs may looked a little unhappy too jim asked what was wrong with melissa mrs may sigh milson was crying because she wanted a tiger for a pet they've been to the circus and nelson loved the tigers he was not going to stop crying until they wanted a tiger [Music] him had a bright idea he had a kitten that looked a little like a tiger maybe nelson would like it [Music] so [Music] [Applause] kim lifted the last kitten out of the basket it was yellowish with stripes it had a little tiger face and wide green eyes kim put the kitten in middleson's lap she stopped crying and smiled a big smile as she stroked the kitten that was striped like a tiny tiger mrs may was delighted she thanked him and asked what he would like to have the little alligator they got to the surface wilson didn't want it kim peered into the glass jar there was a tiny green animal covered with scales he had a pointed face in the long green table kim had never seen an alligator before he thanked mrs may and said he would like that carefully kim said everything straight in his wagon the way he went to her home [Music] now kim had an empty basket two goldfish in a glass bowl one green parrot in the golden cage a wiggly puppy in a small box a shiny red rooster in a small crate and a tiny alligator in a glass jar [Music] jim was very excited when he got home hey mom hey daddy shouting i found a home for every single kitten you glad [Music] so [Music]
