Die Indios von Peru, Nachkommen eines Herrschervolkes, das zahlreiche Hochkulturen hervorgebracht hat, geniale Sozialstrukturen entwickelte und um die Geheimnisse der Natur glänzend Bescheid wusste, leben heute vielfach ausgebeutet in Armut am Rande der Gesellschaft. Der Film erzählt vom Leben der Indios in den Anden und in den Slums von Lima und von ihrer Religiosität. Er berichtet vom Eintreten der Kirche für Gerechtigkeit und von Projekten des Bischöflichen Hilfswerkes Misereor zur Verbesserung der sozialen Situation der Indios.

The indigenous peoples of Peru, descendants of a ruling class that gave rise to numerous advanced civilizations, developed ingenious social structures, and possessed a brilliant understanding of the secrets of nature, now live in poverty on the margins of society, often exploited. The film tells of the life of the indigenous people in the Andes and in the slums of Lima, and of their religiosity. It reports on the Church's commitment to justice and on projects by the episcopal relief organization Misereor to improve the social situation of the indigenous people.
