City of London/City of Westminster: Finanzdistrikt, Maklergespräch über einen Versicherungsabschluss bei Lloyds of London, Lifestyle im Citydistrikt; Regierungssitz Westminster, Bilder alter Tradition des ehemaligen Commonwealth. 2. Camden Town: Typische Wohngegend als Kontrast zur City of London, zunehmende 'gentrification', das heißt Verdrängung der alteingesessenen Bevölkerung und steigende Mieten, Szene in einem Wettbüro. 3. Southall: Stadtviertel mit überwiegend indischer Bevölkerung als Beispiel der ethnischen Vielfalt Londons, eine funktionierende Community, Jugendliche über den kulturellen Kontrast in ihrem Leben. 4. East End/Docklands: Strukturwandel, Arbeitsplatz- und Bevölkerungsverlust, Entwicklung einer neuen Bürostadt auf altem Hafengebiet, Luxuswohnungen in alten Lagerhäusern, ein Planer über die attraktive Lage zur City of London und die wirtschaftlichen Zielvorstellungen. Using four London districts as examples, this film explores the global city as it navigates the tension between tradition and structural change. In each section, residents share their perspectives on how specific aspects of these changes impact their daily lives and work environments. 1. City of London/City of Westminster: Financial district, a broker's discussion about taking out an insurance policy with Lloyd's of London, lifestyle in the City district; Westminster, the seat of government, images of the old traditions of the former Commonwealth. 2. Camden Town: A typical residential neighborhood in contrast to the City of London, increasing gentrification - that is, the displacement of the long-established population and rising rents - scenes from a betting shop. 3. Southall: A neighborhood with a predominantly Indian population as an example of London's ethnic diversity, a thriving community, young people discussing the cultural contrasts in their lives. 4. East End/Docklands: Structural change, job and population loss, development of a new office district on the old docklands, luxury apartments in old warehouses, a planner discussing the attractive location relative to the City of London and the economic objectives.
