Sinn' ist die Sendung zur Verkehrssicherheit schlechthin. Ausgestrahlt wurde sie 39 Jahre lang in der ARD. Wöchentlich verfolgte ein Millionenpublikum spektakuläre Auto-Crashs und hörte auf die mahnende Stimme von Sprecher Egon Hoegen. Mitte der Sechziger Jahre war die Zahl der Verkehrstoten in der Bundesrepublik mit mehr als 16.000 pro Jahr so hoch wie nie zuvor. Die Deutsche Verkehrswacht und der Westdeutsche Rundfunk als Vertreter der ARD waren sich einig, dass etwas passieren musste. Zusammen entwickelten sie ein Konzept für Verkehrserziehung im Fernsehen. Die ersten Folgen bestanden noch aus Trickfilmen. Doch schon im April 1966 fand der '7. Sinn' zu seiner bekannten Form mit der Erkennungsmelodie von Kenny Clarke und der Francy Boland Big Band im Vorspann. Egal ob Aquaplaning, Wildwechsel oder Alkohol am Steuer, der '7. Sinn' besprach alle Risiken im Straßenverkehr und warb für das Anlegen des Sicherheitsgurts - schon Jahre, bevor das Pflicht wurde. Dieser Kompilationsfilm umfasst gleich 4 Sendefolgen des 7. It was broadcast on ARD for 39 years. Every week, millions of viewers watched spectacular car crashes and listened to the warning voice of narrator Egon Hoegen. In the mid-1960s, the number of traffic fatalities in the Federal Republic of Germany was higher than ever before, at more than 16,000 per year. The German Traffic Watch and Westdeutscher Rundfunk, representing ARD, agreed that something had to be done. Together, they developed a concept for traffic education on television. The first episodes consisted of animated films. But by April 1966, '7. Sinn' had found its familiar form with the theme tune by Kenny Clarke and the Francy Boland Big Band in the opening credits. Whether it was aquaplaning, wildlife crossing the road, or drunk driving, '7. Sinn' discussed all the risks of road traffic and promoted the use of seat belts - years before it became mandatory.
