Description: 16mm Film - Inheritance - Lassie - Pilot - USA 1954 Directed by: Leslie Goodwins Written by: Claire Kennedy alias Robert Maxwell, based on the books by Eric Knight Cinematography by: Harold E. Stine Music by: William Lava and Raoul Kraushaar Starring: Jan Clayton, Tommy Rettig, George Cleveland, Myron Healey, Jim Hayward, John Harmon, Erville Alderson, Phyllis Kennedy, Lee Erickson, Pal (Trainer and Owner: Rudd Weatherwax) This is a rare 16mm film copy of the original pilot film for the Lassie TV series. It starts with an intro which to my knowledge has never been shown before to the public. Lassie is left to young Jeff Miller in a will after her previous owner Homer Carey dies. Lassie won't leave that home because she is protecting the dead man's money. The hired hand Matt Willis is found to be trying to steal the $2000 cash the old man had hidden in the old home. Willis locks Lassie and Jeff up in the old house and tries to escape with the money. Lassie chases down the crook and with the help of a neighbor, regains the cash. After the cash is given to Jeff's family, Lassie joins the Miller family. Even though she seems torn at first between her loyalty to her previous owner and Jeff, Lassie makes her decision to stay with her new family.
