Als betriebseigenes Studio des VEB Wohnungsbaukombinats Berlin (WBK Berlin) stand den rund 30 Amateurfilmern bereits früh professionelle Amateurfilmtechnik zur Verfügung. Zu dieser Gruppe gehörten auch die beiden Animationskünstler Angelika und Horst Butter. Das Ehepaar produzierte unter teils widrigen Umständen aufwendige Puppentrickfilme in ihren Privaträumen. Dabei setzten sie Stoffe aus der Märchen- und Fantasiewelt um, griffen aber auch aktuelle gesellschaftliche Themen auf. The film work of Studio WBK Berlin (also known as Amateurfilmstudio 63 VEB WBK Berlin) began in July 1963 in Berlin on the initiative of amateur filmmaker Horst Sendke, who ran the studio until the mid-1970s. As the in-house studio of VEB Wohnungsbaukombinats Berlin (WBK Berlin), the approximately 30 amateur filmmakers had access to professional amateur film technology from an early stage. This group also included the two animation artists Angelika and Horst Butter. The couple produced elaborate puppet animation films in their private rooms, sometimes under adverse conditions.
