Drei Jungen, Bella, Gregor und Martin, versuchen, die Höhe des Wasserturms in Aschheim mit einem einfachen Verfahren selbst zu bestimmen. Dazu wird ein gedachtes Stützdreieck aus Turmhöhe, Entfernung zum Turm und Visierlinie zur Turmspitze maßstabgerecht aufs Papier gezeichnet. Die nötigen Daten ermitteln sie mit dem Bandmaß und einem selbst gebauten Winkelmesser. Aus der Zeichnung wird schließlich die gesuchte Höhe entnommen. Danach wenden sich die Jungen an einen Landvermesser und interessieren sich besonders für den von ihm verwendeten Theodoliten.
Three boys, Bella, Gregor, and Martin, try to determine the height of the water tower of Aschheim themselves using a simple method. To do this, they draw an imaginary support triangle on paper to scale, based on the height of the tower, the distance to the tower, and the line of sight to the top of the tower. They determine the necessary data using a tape measure and a homemade protractor. The height they are looking for is then taken from the drawing. The boys then turn to a surveyor and are particularly interested in the theodolite he uses.
