Der Film zeigt die Situation der Bevölkerung, insbesondere der Frauen, in der Megalopolis São Paulo in Brasilien. São Paulo, einerseits die Finanz. und Handelsmetropole Lateinamerikas, andererseits Massenverelendung, Migration, Favelas, Hunger und früher Tod. Aus verschiedenen Lebensläufen von Frauen wird der Weg in die Krise (Migration), sowie durch Selbsthilfeorganisationen, Sozialzentrum Casa Mateus und kirchliche Arbeit ein möglicher Ausweg aus der Krise aufgezeigt.

The film shows the situation of the population, especially women, in the megacity of São Paulo in Brazil. São Paulo is, on the one hand, the financial and commercial metropolis of Latin America, but on the other hand, it is characterized by mass poverty, migration, favelas, hunger, and premature death. The film traces the path to crisis (migration) through the lives of various women and shows a possible way out of the crisis through self-help organizations, the Casa Mateus social center, and church work.
