Lotta ist fest davon überzeugt, dass sie alles kann, fast alles! Sie kann singen, pfeifen, den Haushalt in Ordnung halten, nur Slalom fahren, das kann sie nicht. Aber sie ist entschlossen, dies zu lernen. Die Mutter bittet sie, Tante Berg, die krank ist, zu besuchen. Sie gibt Lotta zwei Tüten, eine für Tante Berg und eine für die Mülltonne. Lotta fährt auf Skiern zu Tante Berg und wirft dabei die falsche Tüte in die Mülltonne. Als sie das bemerkt, ist der Jammer groß, aber Kalle Fransson, der Müllmann, hat die richtige Tüte gerettet. Zu Hause erwartet Lotta eine traurige Nachricht. Der Vater hat keinen Weihnachtsbaum mehr bekommen, alle waren ausverkauft. Da greift Lotta ein.

Lotta is firmly convinced that she can do everything, almost everything! She can sing, whistle, keep the household in order, but she can't slalom. But she is determined to learn. Her mother asks her to visit Aunt Berg, who is ill. She gives Lotta two bags, one for Aunt Berg and one for the garbage can. Lotta skis to Aunt Berg's and throws the wrong bag into the garbage can. When she realizes this, she is very upset, but Kalle Fransson, the dustman, has saved the right bag. At home, Lotta receives some sad news. Her father has run out of Christmas trees, they have all been sold out. Lotta intervenes.
