Švec u. a. Es ist ein Sommertag und vier junge Männer, kaum volljährig, langweilen sich ein wenig. Sie verabreden sich für den Abend zu einem Besuch im Café Nationalhaus. Der Jüngste, Pinda genannt, hat keine Lust auszugehen und seine Freunde schließen daraus, dass er ein Date hat. Ein kurzes Wortgeplänkel mündet in eine Wette um eine Flasche Wein, die Pinda gewinnt, wenn er seine Bekannte mit ins Café bringt. Ansonsten muss er für jeden seiner Freunde eine Flasche kaufen. Pinda willigt tapfer ein, aber er muss noch ein Mädchen finden, damit er sich vor den Jungs nicht blamiert. Seine Cousine scheidet als erste Hilfe aus, weil sie zu ihrer Großmutter gereist ist. Pinda streift durch die Straßen von Olmütz, als ihn ein junges Mädchen anspricht und um einen Bleistift bittet. Pinda geht 'zum Angriff' über. Eva, das blonde Mädchen, ist zunächst etwas zurückhaltend, aber dann beginnt ein freundliches Gespräch zwischen den beiden. Am Schaufenster des Buchladens rezitiert das Mädchen die Verse ihres Lieblingsdichters Vítězslav Nezval, und der junge Mann gerät immer mehr ins Schwärmen. Der Nachmittag vergeht wie im Flug und vor dem Haus des Mädchens findet Pinda den Mut, sie für den Abend ins Café einzuladen. Eva willigt ein und verschwindet hinter der Tür. In diesem Moment stellt sich Pinda ein Zusammentreffen zwischen seiner zerbrechlichen, aufkeimenden Liebe und seinen grob scherzenden Freunden vor. Er holt Eva im Treppenhaus ein und ändert den Treffpunkt. Lieber opfert er eine Wette als ein aufkeimendes Gefühl. It's a summer's day and the four young men, barely of age, are a bit bored. They arrange an evening visit to the National House café. The youngest, called Pinda, doesn't feel like going out and his friends conclude he has a date. A short banter results in a bet for a bottle of wine, which Pinda wins if he brings his acquaintance to the café. Otherwise, he has to buy a bottle for each of his friends. Pinda bravely agrees, but he has yet to find a girl so he doesn't fall down in front of the boys. The cousin fails as first aid, she has traveled to her grandmother. Pinda is wandering the streets of Olomouc when a young girl approaches him asking to borrow a pencil. Pinda goes 'on the attack'. At first, Eva, the fair-haired young girl, is a bit reserved, but then a friendly conversation starts between them. At the bookstore window, the girl recites the verses of her favourite poet Vítězslav Nezval and the young man becomes more and more enchanted. The afternoon passes like water and outside the girl's house Pinda finds the courage to invite her to a café for the evening. Eva agrees and disappears behind the door. At that moment, Pinda imagines a clash between his fragile budding love and his roughly joking friends. He catches up with Eva on the stairs and changes the meeting place. He'd rather sacrifice a bet than a budding emotion. Je letní den a čtveřice mladíků ledva plnoletých se trochu nudí. Domlouvají si večerní návštěvu kavárny Národní dům. Nejmladšímu zvanému Pinďa se moc nechce a kamarádi usoudí, že má rande. Z krátkého popichování vyplyne sázka o láhev vína, kterou vyhraje Pinďa, pokud přivede svoji známost do kavárny. V opačném případě musí koupit láhev každému z kamarádů. Pinďa statečně souhlasí, dívku si však musí teprve sehnat, aby se před kluky neshodil. Sestřenice jako první pomoc selže, odjela k babičce. Pinďa se toulá ulicemi Olomouce, když ho osloví mladičká dívka s prosbou o zapůjčení tužky. Pinďa vyrazí 'do útoku'. Plavovlasá mladičká Eva je nejprve trochu odměřená, ale pak se mezi nimi rozproudí přátelská konverzace. U výlohy knihkupectví dívka recituje verše svého oblíbeného Nezvala a mladík je čím dál tím víc okouzlen. Odpoledne uteče jako voda a před domem, kde dívka bydlí, najde Pinďa odvahu pozvat ji na večer do kavárny. Eva souhlasí a mizí za dveřmi. Vtom si Pinďa představí střetnutí své křehké začínající lásky s hrubě žertujícími kamarády. Evu na schodech dohoní a místo schůzky změní. Raději obětuje sázku než rodící se cit.
