Since the Republic of Ireland was founded as a free state 64 years ago and Northern Ireland remained part of the British Empire, the city of Belfast has never been at peace. The Catholic minority and Protestant majority are irreconcilably opposed to each other. This film documents this seemingly hopeless situation and shows an attempt to find a way out: Lagan College. At this school, Protestant and Catholic children are educated together. Friendships develop that would otherwise be impossible across the boundaries of the ghetto. The most important learning goal for the 500 children now attending Lagan College is peace.
