Buch und Regie: Manfred Schmelzer
Kamera: Dieter Wedekind
Darsteller: N. N.
Fernando, a Spanish boy, experiences his first contact with his German schoolmates: in a group of pupils, Thomas gives him a kaleidoscope that he has brought with him so that Fernando can also look through it. Fernando, who still understands very little German, mistakes the somewhat patronizing explanations for friendly attention. Thomas leaves him the kaleidoscope for quite a long time, presumably because he notices how much Fernando likes the play of colors of the colorful stones in ever-changing patterns. Fernando misinterprets this gesture as an act of giving and returns it with a gift in return, a Spanish lighter.
