Kurzspielfilm: In einem Londoner Bus weigern sich nachts vier Jugendliche, das Fahrgeld vollständig zu zahlen. Der Schaffner kann sie nicht umstimmen. Er lässt den Bus halten, steigt aus und informiert den Fahrer. Beide hoffen, den Jugendlichen werde das Warten zu lang. Tatsächlich steigen die Vier aus, fallen dann aber über den Schaffner her und schlagen ihn zusammen; Busgäste und Fahrer sehen ohne einzugreifen zu. 2. Gerichtsähnliche Befragung der Beteiligten: Ein Interviewer tritt auf; er befragt die Fahrgäste und den Fahrer, weswegen sie dem Schaffner nicht geholfen haben; den Schaffner, was er von den Argumenten der Zeugen halte und wie er über die Jugendlichen denke; schließlich einen der Jugendlichen, wieso es eigentlich zu der Tat gekommen sei und welche Folgen sie gehabt habe. Den Zuschauern endlich stellt der Interviewer die konkrete Aufgabe, Tat und Befragungsergebnisse zu diskutieren. (Erstausstrahlung auf BBC am 10.10.1968) The film consists of two parts. 1st short feature film: On a London bus at night, four young people refuse to pay the fare in full. The conductor cannot change their minds. He lets the bus stop, gets off and informs the driver. Both hope that the wait will be too long for the young people. The four actually get off the bus, but then attack the conductor and beat him up; bus passengers and driver watch without intervening. 2. court-like questioning of those involved: an interviewer appears; he asks the passengers and the driver why they did not help the conductor; the conductor what he thinks of the witnesses' arguments and what he thinks of the youths; finally, one of the youths is asked why the act actually happened and what the consequences were. Finally, the interviewer gives the viewers the specific task of discussing the crime and the results of the questioning.
