Die Mutter und die siebenjährige Tochter Caroline räumen Babywäsche ein. Dabei kommt Caroline auf den Gedanken, selbst 'Baby' zu spielen. Im Wohnzimmer sitzt Caroline dann mit den Eltern zusammen, die sich mit ihr über das kommende Baby unterhalten. Caroline darf mit Vater den Kopf an Mutters Bauch halten, um das 'Schwesterchen/Brüderchen' zu spüren. Schließlich zeigt die Mutter ihrer Tochter verschiedene Abbildungen von Embryos. Genaueres erklärt die Mutter, als sie mit Caroline auf dem Weg ins Kreiskrankenhaus Ebersberg ist, zur Ultraschalluntersuchung. In der Klinik kann Caroline die Bilder des Embryos auf dem Monitor mitverfolgen. Dann ist es so weit. Vater und Caroline kommen in die Klinik und dürfen das Neugeborene hinter der Glasscheibe betrachten. Caroline hat ein Brüderchen. Zehn Tage müssen Vater und Caroline allein den Haushalt führen. Immer wieder sprechen sie über die Geburt. Endlich sind Mutter und Baby daheim. Caroline darf beim Baden und Stillen zusehen. Mother and seven-year-old daughter Caroline are putting away baby clothes. Caroline gets the idea of playing 'baby' herself. Caroline then sits in the living room with her parents, who talk to her about the baby to come. Caroline and her father are allowed to hold their heads against mother's stomach to feel the 'little sister/brother'. Finally, the mother shows her daughter various pictures of embryos.The mother explains more details when she and Caroline are on their way to the district hospital in Ebersberg for an ultrasound examination. At the clinic, Caroline can follow the images of the embryo on the monitor. Then the time has come. Father and Caroline come into the clinic and are allowed to look at the newborn behind the glass. Caroline has a little brother. Father and Caroline have to run the household alone for ten days. They talk about the birth again and again. Finally, mother and baby are home.
