16mm Film - Carl Orff: Christmas Story - BRD 1964

Direction: Karl Wesseler

Script: Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman

Camera: Claude Robin and Franz Vass

Cast: Shepherd boys Tobi Reiser Salzburg, Tölzer Boys' Choir under the direction of Gerhard Schmidt-Gaden

Orff takes up the tradition of the medieval play, which has remained alive to this day, especially in the Alpine processions of shepherds and kings. The story is retold in Bavarian dialect and acted out by boys. Recorded in the collegiate church on the Nonnberg in Salzburg, the film was broadcast on ZDF at Christmas 1964. Unfortunately, the “Gloria” of the angels had to be muted.
