The silent film 'Blinde finden ihren Weg' (1953) is a reworking of the sound film 'Das Leben ist in uns' by the important cultural filmmaker Wolf Hart: A blind man feels his way uncertainly and carefully to the bench in a park. He cannot see the distrust of his neighbors; his hearing is constantly giving him tasks with a myriad of stimuli that he cannot yet cope with. His face shows bitterness, his hands clutch his cane in despair. Later, this blind man found his way to a school for the blind. A primer in Braille, the tactile braille invented by a blind Frenchman, marks the beginning of a basic education with which the blind man acquires the cultural techniques of reading and writing. Then begins the specialized training for one of the many professions open to blind people today. A wide-ranging report shows us his companions in misfortune at their workplaces. They not only fill these positions, but also perform particularly valuable work because their remaining senses, especially hearing and touch, make them especially capable of certain tasks. Our young blind man also finds his way as a typist. He has not only been given a profession, but a new task in life that fulfills and satisfies him. Special feature: The role of the blind man's partner is unmistakably played by the then 39-year-old Heidi Kabel.
