Description: 16mm Film - Beginner Swimming - BRD 1961 Camera, Script and Direction: Karl Koch Cast: Students of the Catholic primary school Cologne-Junkersdorf 8- to 11-year-old school children from Cologne-Junkersdorf learn to swim during the filming in the teaching pool of the Müngersdorf Stadium. After a general familiarization with the water through targeted play activities, the practice goals of diving with eyes open, floating and gliding create the prerequisites for the first swimming style, here breaststroke. After learning the leg movements and coordinating leg and arm movements, the lessons end with the free swimming test. In addition to demonstrating group instruction, important movement sequences and methodological steps are also clarified in individual shots. The instruction is carried out without buoyancy aids. This film was produced in collaboration with the Sports University of Cologne. Its pedagogical and methodological guidance reflects the latest and at the same time proven methods.
