Description: 16mm Film - André - How Should One Deal with Him? - BRD 1974 Script and Direction: Gottfried Schreiber Camera: Wolf Bachmann and Peter Kapuste Without commentary, the camera observes the spastically paralyzed André (approximately 12 years old) from Braunschweig in his everyday activities: at the soccer game of non-disabled children he stands apart; sent by his mother to do the shopping, he laboriously produces his words — his speech is barely understandable; when his purchases fall to the ground, one sees how difficult it is for him to pick up the individual items; passersby do not notice his efforts or watch from a distance, and only late does a woman find herself to help him. Schoolwork causes André much more effort than for a healthy child. Towards the end of the film, André stands again at the edge of the playground; his wish to join in goes unheard.
