Description: 16mm Film - At the Beach - BRD 1982 Direction: Vojtěch Jasný Script: Vojtěch Jasný, based on a story by Gianni Rodari Camera: Klaus Jahnel Cast: Unknown The film tells the fantastic story of a young man gifted with the ability to fly who soars high into the air, managing in this way to escape the tourist bustle on a bathing beach. The first shots show a beautiful, deserted sandy beach by the sea at dawn. Then a quirky figure appears in the dunes: a strangely dressed young man with fiery red hair, carrying a deck chair and a parasol under his arm. He hurries to the beach, puts his things down, leaps joyfully into the water with big strides and swims out into the open sea. While the young man is swimming far out, crowds of bathers come to the beach, and when he climbs out of the water again, a dense mass of people populates the bathing beach. He can barely find his things in the commotion. Now the young man remembers his fantastic abilities, opens his parasol and floats into the air along with his deck chair, finding a beautiful spot high up where he makes himself comfortable... Towards evening, as the rows of bathers thin out, the young man floats back down to earth, packs up his things and walks away.
