A supermarket shopping trip and the resulting mountain of rubbish, in which the family is in danger of drowning, are depicted in a cabaret-style exaggeration. A play presents the possibilities for avoiding waste. Inserted scenes briefly show the recycling processes and the limits of recycling paper, glass, and metal. The particular problems of plastics and composites are only briefly touched upon, as is the composting of organic waste. A common thread running through the entire film is that the waste problem cannot be solved by recycling, but only by waste prevention. Direct purchasing and the use of reusable systems are the most important measures for waste prevention in private households.
